Magetsa Letsoalo

Dear Sir/Madam

I am writing to support my interest to enrol for the graduate program. I have currently (2018) enrolled for BTech programme with the University of Johannesburg studying Engineering in Mining, which is only for a year (2018). I have currently acquired knowledge in Mine Health and Safety Act and Regulation, Project Management and Rock Engineering (more stated on my academic record) and I now have a theoretical and a minor practical understand of the industry. My motto and every day resolution is to challenge and improve myself, as a result, I have volunteered to be a class representative and leader of a tour committee, which has highlighted the importance of prioritizing, has enabled me to work better with people in teams through being patient, learning to listen to people.

Over the course of my second year at University I was offered In-service Training with Sibanye Gold where I learned about many different components and principals involved in Mining Engineering, while others include the modules I completed during my Diploma, these include;
 Ventilation circuits
 Shaft design
 Handling of explosives
 Healthy and Safety measures of a mine
 Mine Valuation and Survey
 Operating mine machines
 Torch cutting
 Basic beneficiation at the plant
 Technical Services: Rock Engineering theory
 Engineering Management

After obtaining my qualification, I have learned about management as being the key to improve and develop more productive and efficient ways in a working environment, which has taught me to be observant and to have an open mind. I am however, looking forward to utilise what I have by far learned, and to further familiarise myself with the culture in the industry and to grow more as a willingly and eager future graduate.

I have worked at Dischem from October 2016 until the end of July 2017 for the purpose of paying school and accommodation while I lived in Johannesburg to pursue completion of my Diploma in Mining Engineering. I left Dischem after I was graced with a once-off bursary opportunity from Eskom however I am currently a fulltime student and I plan to pay fees after I get a job.
Kindly note that should an opportunity arise, I am ready to relocate from where I currently reside to where the job is. Should you will to contact me call me on 073 315 8086 or email on

Thank you for your time.

October 2016 to July 2017

I started as a cashier in October 2016 and was moved to dispensary receptionist in November where they offered me a bursary for a pharmacist assistance which was a four year program but I turned them down considering that I will finish Mining in less than four years. So I left because I was offered a once off bursary from Eskom and I could no longer juggle work and school work. However it all was a sweet bitter challenge that taught me to be responsible for myself and to stop expecting handouts from people.
